Marker Assisted Selection

Our marker assisted selection service, Trait Marks, helps ensure that desired traits are identified and selected in segregating populations so they are manifested in the next generation. The Trait Marks service offers a cost effective and efficient way to select important traits at the molecular level, and is especially useful when phenotypic selection is:

The STA Molecular Marker laboratory has developed methods for marker assisted selection. We have identified molecular markers linked to the genes which cause a specific trait, for example a disease resistance gene. Using the marker, STA Genomics can identify plants carrying the gene, including the zygosity, even in the absence of the selection agent and at any stage of plant growth. Unique sample collection, in-depth result reporting and superior analysis support ensure that quality and reliable results are returned to you.

STA Genomics offers tailored molecular marker services that provide an easy alternative to setting up internal genomics labs.
